“The Fledgling"

Prints available: 9x12" - $65

Young fledgeling hummingbirds will often stay near their nest for a couple of weeks. Even though they have left the nest, their mother will occasionally feed them and transition them to independence. Many times you will notice tufts of down still poking through their feathers, symbols that they are new to this world. The purple trumpet vine is quite a large flower and literally dwarfs the baby hummingbird. Baby hummingbirds will puff their feathers up to trap warm air next to their bodies and will look larger than they really are.

(The unmatted prints are printed on acid free German Hahnemuhle paper, sent in an acid free envelope mounted on foam core board.)
